Week 1
On our first week of our Deign Principles, they showed us the module information booklet on what will be expecting for this semester. They introduced us about the Elements & Principles of Design and what/how they are being used.. Showing various of company brand's logo, website design, product design, poster etc.

DESIGN PRINCIPLES

Gestalt Theory

- This theory is how people perceive the world around them/ the      visual elements
- They are wired to see pattern, logic and structure
- The word "Gestalt" refers to "shape" or "form" in German
- Aim to show how complex scenes can be reduced to more a simpler       shape

Contrast

- Contrast is the juxtaposition of strongly dissimilar elements
- without it, visual experience would be boring
- This element can provide emphasize a point and express content

Balance

- Balance refers to the distribution of visual weight in a work of     design
- This element that could cause the total image to appear balanced

Emphasis

- Emphasis is used to create dominance and focus in a design work
- Color, shapes or value can be used to create emphasis to achieve   dominance

Repetition

- Repetition creates rhythm and pattern within the work
- The pattern increase the visual excitement by enriching surface      interest
- Avoid monotony

Movement

- Movement is a way of a design that leads the eye in, around, and     through a composition - the path eye follows

UNSDG - UNITED NATIONS SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GROUP 8

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOAL 8

Goal 8 is about promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment and decent work for all. This goal would help everyone get to work that is productive and delivers a fair income, security in the workplace and social protection for anyone.

fig 2.0 15/2/2024 Symbol

I decide to use this poster to relate to sustainable development goal 8 is because other than having everyone to have access to work in a company/ job that they dreamed off, child labor and slavery are the biggest problem in the world. According to the artist that produce this, companies around the world uses child labour to cut down their production cost and it will increase their profits. 72 million children in the worldwide are forced to do hazardous work and are deprived from education. The shovels and sewing machines in the other child's head shows the commonly use by children for companies. The red tears could represent blood which the amount of children being abused till bleed or it's very sad that they are doing the things they don't want.  The design principle being used is contrast, emphasis, word & image.

Further reading

"The World of Child Labour" focuses on the origins, effects, and remedies of child labour while providing historical and contemporary information about the practice around the globe. Around the world, there is a movement to end child labour as it continues to be a major social and economic issue in developing nations. Leading academics, researchers, legislators, and activists from across the world have been brought together by volume editor Hugh D. Hindman to create a thorough reference that includes more than 220 essay.

Reflections

This task reminds me back of all the design principles that it applies to art and photographs in the world. Knowing how to apply these principles and when to apply it. By exploring UNSDG also helps me to expand my knowledge on the goals that UN has shown. Realizing that the goal that I've chosen is about accessing everyone to work. Instead I decide to do the opposite which it also applies to slavery and child labour.

Feedback

Week 1
Presentation wise is good but the part about UNSDG needs to be changed because the illustration is just a diagram that has no design principles or heavily meaning.

Week 3
Elaborate more about the poster more since I've only talk about the goal only.
