MAJOR PROJECT I

INSTRUCTIONS

We as a student are required to produce a comprehensive proposition on a chosen topic and apply independent learning skills in a studio environment to formulate the desired content for their project which demonstrates their skills in design works and effective project management.

PROPOSAL DEVELOPMENT

Week 1 / Topic Discussion

In the first week, we were assigned to work in a group of 4 to begin our project. Ms Vitiyaa introduced us to the project briefing on what will be happening throughout this module.

During the group discussion, we came up our few ideas.
  • Bread Company (Packaging design)
  • Design Album/Season Greetings
  • (Redefined) Good Vibes Festival
Ms. Anis advice us to see what each other's strong point in graphic design. We had 1 person that like typography, 2 person like poster design and 1 person like packaging. Therefore, we extend our ideas from there.

After combining our interest, we come up an idea if we can Redefined Good Vibes Festival.

Week 2 / Proposal Slides

In week 2, we gathered information from the previous Good Vibes design and compare to other successful festivals in Malaysia.  We also decide on the overall theme to apply to a redefined design.

Ms. Vitiyaa gave us a proposal guide for us to refer to for our proposal presentation:

Week 3 - 5  / Presentation

In week 3, we begin to present our proposal slides to the class.

We also created a google form to gather peoples opinion about their experience with Good Vibes festival etc.

From Ms. Vitiyaa's feedback, mentioned that our proposal is already well-structured and meets the necessary requirements. However, she emphasized the importance of visualizing our final outcome by creating sketches. This will help refine our concept further and provide a clearer representation of our ideas, ensuring that our execution aligns with our vision.

Week 6 / PROCESS

After our group discussion on the final proposal, I made sure everyone had their own tasks so we could wrap things up faster. We set up a Google Drive folder to keep everything organized and make it easy to share our work. To keep things looking consistent, we also put together a few design templates that we could use across our materials. With everything in place and everyone clear on their roles, we were able to stay on track and get things done efficiently.

After receiving feedback from my groupmates, they pointed out that the dates needed to be corrected and suggested adjusting the font choice for better readability and consistency. Taking their input into account, I carefully reviewed the dates to ensure accuracy and explored different font options that would align with our overall design.

Week 7 / FINALIZE PROPOSAL

This is our final proposal where we re-design from our previous proposal slides to make it more formal and better.

Ms. Vitiyaa provided positive feedback on our final proposal, noting that it is well-structured, but she highlighted a few missing elements that need to be addressed. We need to include the logo development process, showcasing how the design evolved through sketches, inspirations, and iterations. Additionally, logo variations should be presented to ensure adaptability across different backgrounds, sizes, and applications. For staff clothing, a glow-in-the-dark feature must be incorporated to enhance visibility, which should also be applied to the booth design to create a more striking and immersive visual effect.

REFLECTION ON CONTRIBUTION OF EACH MEMBERS

ALIAH

Aliah plays a key role in ensuring that our group stays aligned with the given guidelines and maintains consistency throughout our work. She was the one that come up with the idea of "Good Vibes Festival", and since then we all follow and agree with it. Whenever someone makes an error or deviates from the plan, she steps in to provide guidance and corrections, helping us stay on track. Her attention to detail and commitment to following the requirements have been crucial in keeping our project well-organized and meeting the necessary standards.

ANDREA

Andrea contributes in getting the job done while also making sure she’s not working on it alone. She regularly checks in with me, sending updates on her progress to ensure her work aligns with our designated design. By staying in touch, she helps maintain consistency across the project and avoids any misalignment. When she’s fully locked into the project, she has the potential to work ten times more efficiently and produce even better results.

AMEELY

Ameely is always open to listening whenever we come up with new ideas, and she isn’t afraid to try them out without fear of judgment. If there’s something that needs improvement, she takes the feedback positively and refines her work to make it even better. On top of that, she contributes fresh ideas that we hadn’t even considered, bringing new perspectives that help enhance our project.

REFLECTION

Experience

This experience has been incredibly engaging, allowing me to broaden my design knowledge while gaining a deeper appreciation for my teammates' ideas and perspectives. Collaborating with them has given me new insights into different creative approaches, making the process both inspiring and enriching. Through our discussions and planning, we have developed a clear vision for the rebranding of 'Good Vibes Festival,' ensuring that every detail aligns with our refreshed concept. With all these preparations, we are confident in bringing a unique and memorable transformation to the festival’s identity

Observation

I’ve realized that preparation is crucial when working on a big project. Gathering feedback from different perspectives not only strengthens our ideas but also helps refine them into something more impactful. Through this process, I’ve learned that when creating a project aimed at customers, understanding the 'buyer’s journey' is essential. It allows us to anticipate their needs and preferences, making it easier to finalize our decisions with confidence.

Findings

This experience has been both insightful and rewarding, allowing us to refine our creative vision while strengthening our teamwork. Through careful preparation and feedback, we have gained a deeper understanding of design, branding, and the importance of the buyer’s journey. With a clear direction and thoughtful execution, we are confident in delivering a refreshed identity for the Good Vibes Festival that resonates with its audience.
